Fillings

Repair decay and protect your tooth

A dental filling restores a tooth after decay or minor damage has been removed. Silverlake Dental Group evaluates the size and location of the problem, your bite, and the remaining tooth structure before recommending a restoration. Treating a small cavity can help prevent a larger problem later.

What to expect

We examine the tooth and use imaging when needed to assess how far the damage extends. During treatment, the affected area is cleaned, the tooth is restored, and the filling is shaped and checked against your bite. Local anesthesia may be used for comfort. We explain the recommended material and how it relates to the tooth being treated.

Care after your visit

Some sensitivity can occur after a filling, especially with a deeper cavity. Tell us if your bite feels high, pain increases, or sensitivity does not settle. A filling does not prevent new decay, so brushing with an appropriate toothpaste, cleaning between teeth, and regular checkups remain important. If a tooth has extensive damage, a crown or another treatment may be more suitable.
