Our Neighborhood
Silverlake Dental Group has been on Glendale Blvd since 2018, and we wouldn’t trade this neighborhood for anywhere else in Los Angeles. Silver Lake is one of those rare places that manages to feel like a real community inside one of the world’s biggest cities — walkable, creative, independent, and genuinely local.
The Silver Lake Reservoir sits at the heart of it all, a 2.1-mile loop that draws walkers, runners, and dog owners every morning and evening, framed by the kind of sweeping views of the hills and downtown skyline that remind you why people move to LA in the first place. The Silver Lake branch of the Los Angeles Public Library is right across the street from us on Glendale Blvd — a neighborhood anchor that’s been quietly serving the community for generations. Next door is Gingergrass, the beloved Silver Lake Vietnamese restaurant that’s been a neighborhood staple for years. Whole Foods is two blocks away. And the running culture here is unlike anywhere else in the city — the Silver Lake Track Club hosts weekly runs right from our stretch of the neighborhood, including Tuesday evening loops around the reservoir and Sunday morning long runs departing from Makisupa Coffee Bar on Rowena, the community-driven café co-founded by SLTC captain Howie Goldklang that has quickly become the unofficial headquarters of Silver Lake’s running scene.
Coffee and Grub
Silver Lake has always been a neighborhood that does things its own way — and that extends to its food and coffee culture, which is as good as anywhere in Los Angeles. For coffee, Makisupa on Rowena is one spot. We also have Friends & Family Silverlake Outpost nextt door.
For bagels — and Silver Lake has become unexpectedly serious about bagels — there are two essential stops. Courage Bagels on N. Virgil is the one with the line around the block: Montreal-style, almost charred, loaded with local produce and the kind of smoked salmon that makes you want to move here permanently. Maury’s on Bellevue Ave, right on the Silver Lake-Echo Park border, is the East Coast counterpoint — soft, chewy, sourdough bagels made in small batches and loaded with exceptional smoked fish. Both are worth the wait. Both represent exactly what makes this neighborhood special: people doing one thing, doing it with total commitment, and building a loyal community around it.
