Computer-Guided Implant Placement

Computer-Guided Implant Placement

Planning an implant in 3D

Before an implant is placed, Silverlake Dental Group can combine 3D imaging of your jaw with a digital scan of your teeth to plan the implant's position, angle and depth on screen, around the bone, nerves and sinuses.

How the guide is used

From that plan a custom surgical guide is made that fits over your teeth. During the procedure it directs the implant to the planned position, which can help with accuracy, a smaller opening and a more predictable final tooth.

What to expect

Planning starts with scans at an earlier visit. On the day of treatment, the guide is seated and the implant is placed under local anesthetic or sedation. Whether guided placement suits your case depends on your bone and the area being treated; the doctor will review this with you.
